Lately I’ve been into this knock knock joke where you get people to say “I eat mop who.”
That’s all I have to say about that.
Did I tell you that I filmed an episode of “I Love You… But I Lied” for the Lifetime Movie Network? Probably not. When things feel like a big deal, I tend to keep it to myself for fear that the opportunity will go away. I am superstitious like that. It’s genetic.
I auditioned for 5 episodes, I believe, but most of them were before I started taking Anthony Abeson’s class, which has transformed the way I find the character and prep for an audition. The show is improvised, so there were no lines to memorize, which helped me because I spent more time fleshing out the life of the character, rather than simply memorizing lines and trying to fit the character into the spaces between them.
All this helped for the actual shoot too, as we had a very challenging and emotional scene to shoot at the end of the day, which is something I’ve never done before. Anthony’s class has helped me find choices to make to “stay in it,” which helped me banish bad actor thoughts from my mind while the shot was being set up and I was pacing like a lion, telling myself I couldn’t do and what if I failed?…
So we’ll see how it turns out when it airs sometime early next year.
In other news, the Annoyance has decided to stop having the house teams perform on Thursday nights, which is a great idea because it will allow the theatre to be more inclusive. So goodbye weekly performance opportunity! I feel good about this though, because focusing on improv for the past few years has helped me develop a lot of great skills, and it’s time for me to move on to the next challenge.
The other reason not to be bummed about the loss of the Thursday night show: I will still have the opportunity to get my creative yah yahs out on stage because the Magdalene Sisters Musical got a run at the Annoyance! Friday nights at 8, starting in January. We’re still working on the script and the music and we’re all really fucking excited.
Okay tata I did it I wrote a post even though it’s a solid B- but it’s my blog so I do what I want.
